SEPTA Regional Rail Workers Strike

SEPTA Regional Rail workers are on strike as of early Saturday due to a long-running labor dispute.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the union workers are on strike as of 12:01 a.m. Saturday. Mediators met with representatives of SEPTA and the unions at about 7:45 p.m. Friday but no agreement was reached, according to the Inquirer.

The strike impacts all 13 lines on SEPTA’s Regional Rail service. It’s the first strike in 31 years. Bus and subway service are not impacted.

SEPTA's Regional Rail engineers have been working without a contract since 2010; the electricians have not had a contract since 2009.
