TMA Bucks Awarded Verizon Foundation Grant

$2,500 grant will support Bucks County high school seatbelt safety challenge.

 

TMA Bucks (Transportation Management Association) announced today that the Verizon Foundation has awarded the organization a $2,500 grant for the Bucks County High School Seatbelt Safety Challenge.

 “TMA Bucks is very grateful for the Verizon Foundation’s generosity to this extremely important program that benefits all Bucks County high school students,” said TMA Bucks board president Phil Wursta, in a release.

The Bucks County High School Seatbelt Safety Challenge, which has 15 schools participating this year, is TMA Bucks’ seatbelt awareness initiative that encourages high schools throughout Bucks County to raise its student driver seatbelt safety usage from the fall to spring after initial surveying. The schools with the highest total percentage in usage and greatest percentage increase in usage in follow-up surveys are awarded with $500 cash grants and perpetual plaques.

"Verizon is proud to improve the quality of life for youth and families in Bucks County by empowering the community with innovative tools and resources," said Daniel J. Reavy, director of external affairs for Verizon Pennsylvania.  "We're investing in programs, such as our partnership with TMA Bucks, to reach every type of learner across the lifespan and to touch people's lives by focusing on education, health and family safety in the 21st century.  We understand that education does not begin or end in the classroom".

The Verizon Foundation has dedicated technical, financial and human resources to help people in communities across the country live healthy, productive lives since 2000.  The foundation focuses its efforts on two primary areas – education and literacy, and safety and health.
