Truck Traffic Restricted Along Byberry and Bridgewater

The Bensalem Township Council approved an ordinance that restricts large trucks from using neighborhood roads as shortcuts.

Residents in the neighborhoods along the Byberry and Bridgewater road corridors will hopefully get some relief from tractor trailers using their quiet roads as a shortcut to make their deliveries.

The Bensalem Township council passed an ordinance Monday night that restricts trucks and commercial vehicles weighing more than 26,000 pounds from using back streets in that area.

"Anytime residents along a particular road would send us complaints, the township passed an ordinance for that road," said Joe Pizzo, township solicitor. "As a result we had all of these separate resolutions confusing the issue. This new ordinance combines all of the previous oridinances."
