Watch Out for Flash Floods

The Weather Service says saturated ground and heavy rain could lead to localized flooding.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the surrounding area including Bucks and Montgomery counties.

The watch is in effect from late tonight through late Friday night.

According to the Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms from tonight and tomorrow night are expected to produce one half to one inch of rain with localized amounts of two to four inches possible.

Conditions in our region are nearly saturated due to the recent rainfall. Any additional heavy rain may lead to localized flash flooding.

Here's the local forecast:

  • Late Afternoon: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 7am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
  • Friday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Light south wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Saturday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Saturday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Sunday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Sunday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
