Weather Service: Watch Out for Flash Flooding

Heavy rain in forecast could cause floods.

Early this morning, the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly issued a flash flood watch for the surrounding area including Bucks and Montgomery counties.

The watch is in effect from noon today through late tonight.

According to the Weather Service, low pressure will move along a stationary front in the Mid-Atlantic region this afternoon and this evening, resulting thunderstorms that may yield rainfall rates exceeding two inches in less than an hour. Additional thunderstorms may track across the same areas resulting in flash flooding.

Heavy rain over urban areas as well as over heavily travelled highways in the I-95 corridor may be especially vulnerable if it hits these locations.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
