Philadelphia University Baseball And Softball Take Part In Access Sports Charity Event

The Philadelphia University baseball and Softball teams partnered up with Access Sport to hold their third annual Wiffle Ball Classic on Saturday, Sept. 8.

PHILADELPHIA - (September 13, 2012) - The Philadelphia University baseball and Softball teams partnered up with Access Sport to hold their third annual Wiffle Ball Classic on Saturday, Sept. 8.

This is the first year that Philadelphia University has hosted the event on its campus, and also the first year that the softball team has been involved. The baseball team has served as umpires for the past two years at the event. Special thanks to Kacie DeMaio of the softball team and Jeff Bohus of the baseball team for organizing their respective teams and making the event possible at Philadelphia University.

Access Sports is a nonprofit organization that provides memorable sports experiences for at-risk and the special needs populations. Access Sports provides tickets and clinics to agencies serving under privileged children and those with physical or mental health disabilities. Money raised at the third annual Wiffle Ball Classic will be used to further help children and those with disabilities to enjoy athletic events.

The wiffle ball tournament had an amazing turn out of participants and volunteers, with thirteen teams competing in 6 rounds of play. The 2010 Champions, the Center City Sluggers tied for the title with LBR Scientific. Both teams get to enjoy a suite at a Temple University Basketball game.
