Bensalem Student Takes Honors at Juried Art Competition

Taylor Hamilton won best of show honors in the fiber-crafts category at the Touch the Future juried art competition.

A Bensalem Township High School student took home the honor in a "best of" category at the 26th Annual Touch the Future art show.

Taylor Hamilton won the "best of" for fiber-crafts, under the instruction of Deanna McLaughlin. Hamilton is one of 21 students—nine of which are from Bucks County—to win "best of" at the art show.

An awards ceremony was held at Arcadia University to celebrate the winners of the juried art show, which included student artwork from 27 Bucks and Montgomery county public high schools, a release said. This year’s Touch the Future show was juried by Carole Loeffler, associate professor of art and design at the university

"All of the students with work in this exhibition are to be celebrated," Loeffler said. "Rarely do we get to see so much talent, inventiveness and skill in one space. Being surrounded by work made with such great ambition, heart, passion and vision is truly an exhilarating and unforgettable experience."

An opportunity to view the art is still available, as the exhibition at the Commons Art Gallery and the Great Room lobby area at Arcadia University will remain open to the public through Thursday, March 14.
