Rush Principal Thinks Big

Kathleen Leon and one of her students were honored at a fundraiser.

On Nov. 9, Kathleen Leon, principal of the Benjamin Rush Elementary School, was recognized by the Bensalem school board for an award she won in May.

Leon had been presented with the Think Big Award for her goal of “changing the education system one child at a time.”

She was presented with the award at a fundraiser dinner for the Philadelphia chapter of the Carson Scholars Fund.

Also honored at that spring dinner was 5th grade Carson Scholar Jenna O’Boyle, who read her winning scholarship essay about childhood obesity and the importance of staying active.

Jenna is on the student council at Benjamin Rush Elementary School, the Junior Olympics gymnastics team, and hopes to one day become a teacher.
