School Board OKs Six-Year Teachers Contract

Deal includes pay freeze for this year; 7 percent hike overall.

After more than a year of negotiations, the has forged a six-year collective bargaining agreement with the Bensalem Township Education Association that includes a pay freeze in the current school year.

"I think a long contract serves the stability of the district. It helps us plan educationally and it recognizes the strong collaboration between teachers and the district." said Superintendent Dave Baugh.

"After 17 months of hard work we got to a contract that everyone can live with, and no one is completely happy about—everyone sacrificed to make this happen. It's a tribute to teachers who recognize the economic difficulty in the region and their dedication to the kids."
