School Board Hires Transportation Coordinator

The Bensalem Township School Board appointed a new transportation coordinator.

The Bensalem Township Board hired a new transportation coordinator during its meeting on Tuesday.

The board voted unanimously to appoint Denise C. McCue to the position of transportation coordinator at a salary of $74,545. McCue will replace Grace S. Yaeger, who is retiring after 13 years in Bensalem. 

"I’m looking forward to this new challenge," McCue told the board after the vote. She told Patch after the meeting that she was not sure when she would begin her new position.

McCue has been involved in the transportation of students for 24 years, currently serving as the supervisor of transportation for Cheltenham School District. Previously, she served as the director of transportation in the Pennridge School District for five years and the supervisor of transportation in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District for almost three years.

Board member Kim Rivera, who heads up the personnel committee said the committee narrowed its choices to the top three candidates. The resumes of those individuals were circulated to all board members, she said.

Board member Kevin McKay called McCue "an excellent candidate."

"She’s doing a very similar job in another district," he said. 

During her time working in transportation, McCue has worked as a bus driver, trainer and third party examiner. 

In addition to holding a CDL, P & S endorsements and State examiner certificates, she has been a member of the Pupil Transportation Association of Pennsylvania since 1998, as well as a member of the Montgomery and Bucks County Transportation Associations.  

She has served on a number of Safe School and Safety Committees and served as the treasurer, vice president and president of the Delaware Valley Association of School Business Officials Transportation Chapter.
