In men’s action, Sophomore Khiry Hankins scored a season-high 21 points as the Holy Family University men’s basketball team defeated Chestnut Hill College, 64-63, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at the Campus Center also on Thursday night.

Holy Family improves to 5-15 overall and 3-7 in the CACC, while Chestnut Hill falls to 8-11 overall and 5-6 in the CACC.

With less than a minute to play, Chestnut Hill cut the Holy Family lead to one point after sophomore Francis Ashe scored a layup to make the score 64-63.

After both teams failed to score on their next possessions, freshman Alberto Munoz grabbed an important rebound off a missed shot by Chestnut Hill as the Griffins were forced to foul with only 2.7 seconds left on the clock.

Munoz was rewarded two free throws, but came up short on both attempts to give Chestnut Hill one final possession.  On the upcoming inbound, freshman Rashaad Sneed intercepted the pass running out the clock to secure the victory for Holy Family.

Junior Tim Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) tallied 16 points to go along with a game-high nine assists.  Fellow classmate Sam Mushman (Hackettstown, N.J./Pope John XXIII) added 11 points off the bench after shooting 4-of-5 from the field.
