Sign Up for Annual Parx Octoberfest 5K Run

Parx Casino & Parx Racing, announces the second annual Octoberfest 5K Run to benefit the Foundation for Breast and Prostate Health (FBPH). Run on the legendary Pennsylvania racetrack on Saturday, Oct. 12 for a truly meaningful cause.

This year’s 5K recipient, the Foundation for Breast and Prostate Health, is a local Philadelphia nonprofit and think tank highly regarded worldwide in the advancement of breast and prostate cancer research and treatment. 

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Parx is dedicated to raising awareness about early detection for breast cancer along with the funds to help such organizations as this. 

“Parx has been a generous supporter of the Foundation for Breast and Prostate Health for the past two years, donating time, resources and support to our annual Father’s Day Gary Papa Run,” said Colleen Daley, the Executive Director for the Foundation for Breast and Prostate Health. “We are thrilled to be chosen as Parx’s Breast Cancer 5K beneficiary and to continue this wonderful partnership.”

On Saturday, October 12 at 10 a.m., registered runners will travel the perimeter of the casino and racetrack to help fight this disease that affects millions of people every year. 

The final lap of the 5K will take place on the actual racetrack and will be called by track announcer Keith Jones. 

In addition to the run, this year’s event will also include a Fun Mile Walk beginning at 9:30 a.m. Both the 5K and the Fun Mile Walk will be filmed and shown live on the giant screens of the track’s infield for family and friends to watch and support.

Parx will award cash wagering vouchers and trophies to the first three finishers in each adult division. Gift card prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers of the kids’ divisions.
