Local Women Named to YWCA Board

They will help the YWCA's mission dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Jelena DaCosta and Lisette Agosto Cintrón, both of Bensalem, have been elected to YWCA Bucks County’s board of directors.

Located at 2425 Trevose Road, Trevose, YWCA Bucks County is a nonprofit social services organization serving children, women and families since 1954.

According to a release, the women have backgrounds in social services and education.

DaCosta brings to the YWCA Board a solid foundation of experience in the field of social services.

She earned her master of social service degree in 2008 and is currently a social worker in the Ombudsman Alternative School located in Neshaminy School District.

DaCosta speaks Russian fluently and would like to help serve the Russian community in some capacity through YWCA Family Centers in Bucks County.

Cintrón has been a professional educator, both as a teacher and administrator.

Bilingual in Spanish and English, she has devoted her career to the development of literacy skills in elementary and secondary students. 

Active in numerous community and professional organizations, she currently serves as the Bucks County representative to the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs.

Cintrón holds a master’s degree from Holy Family University and attended Drexel University as an undergraduate.

The mission of the YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. 

The YWCA offers a wide and comprehensive array of social service and educational enrichment programs and services to support underserved children, women and families directly in the neighborhoods where they live. 

The focus is on three main areas: Youth Services, Family Centers and Self-Sufficiency Programs. All YWCA programs are designed to strengthen and improve the lives of Bucks County residents.
