In Pennsylvania, the average for a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.490 per gallon down 6.2 cents from a week ago. In Bucks and Montgomery, the average price for a gallon is $3.480; that’s 47.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, which is 4.75 cents from a week ago, 18.3 cents lower than a month ago. Locally, the cheapest price is $3.40 at several Bensalem gas stations. In Pennsylvania, the average for a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.552 per gallon down 5.4 cents from a week ago. U.S. gasoline prices in April have continued to fall, the reports states, not just because of weak demand, but oil prices have also moved sharply lower. In Bucks and Montgomery, the average price for a gallon is $3.525 per gallon, which is down 4.7 cents from a week ago, 16 cents lower than a month ago and 45.4 cents lower than a year ago. While gas prices declined in March, oil prices crept higher; both are indicators of an economic recovery, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The national average this week is $3.637 for a gallon, down 2.1 cents from last week. In Bucks and Montgomery Counties, gas prices dropped another 2.6 cents a gallon to an average of $3.625. That’s 27.4 cents lower than last year’s prices. The Pennsylvania average retail price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.653, which is 2.1 cents less than a week ago. The price increased by 6 cents last year at this time and by 17 cents in 2011. The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Bucks and Montgomery spiked 17.8 cents since last week, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. That increase since last Monday is the most dramatic one-week spike in nearly two years, the report states. The price surge was largely the result of higher crude oil prices and the “rubber-banding” of midcontinent retail gasoline prices, which fell dramatically to end the year and are now swinging back up.
