An Amtrak train was delayed for nearly an hour on Saturday after striking a large bird, an Amtrak official said. The 155 NE Regional Amtrak train came to a halt around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 just East of the Cornwells Heights Station, according to Craig Schulz, an Amtrak Media Relations spokesperson. Passengers, including a Patch employee who reached out to Bensalem Patch, speculated that a person had been struck by the train. An investigation proved otherwise. "At first, they knew they struck an object, but they didn't know what it was," Schulz said of the Amtrak crew. "After an investigation it was determined that it was a large bird."
