Win an iPad Mini at Holiday Inn Grand Opening Tonight

Though the new Holiday Inn Express has been opened since December 2012, its official grand opening will be Thursday, March 27.

The Holiday Inn Express at 1329 Bristol Pk. will officially open its doors at a Grand Opening ceremony. The hotel opened for business after renovations on Dec. 18, but the grand opening ceremony will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27. Food will be catered by DiAntonios and entertainment will be provided by Chris Carter Acoustic, Director of Sales Lisa Lento told Patch. As if you need more motivation to go to an event than free refreshments and entertainment, the hotel will have a drawing and give away an Apple iPad Mini. Additionally, it will be an opportunity for the community to see the changes that were made. Read more about the grand opening in an earlier article.

Computer Troubleshooter Fixes Problems On-Site

Dave Rubin is the owner of Bensalem's Computer Troubleshooters.

If you have a computer problem who do you call? Maybe you go through the manufacturer or contact Best Buy's Geek Squad. Or maybe you prefer a local option like Computer Troubleshooters. Owner Dave Rubin runs this Bensalem-based business and will travel to your home or office to help fix your equipment. Before opening the franchise in Bensalem, Rubin was a network administrator and service manager for a company that sold office equipment. But after being laid off, he found himself looking for something else. "As I was looking for another job, I came across Computer Troubleshooters, and thought to myself, 'This could be interesting,' " he said. Bensalem Patch got to talk to Rubin about the company and what it's like to own a Bensalem …

Meet the Man Behind Bensalem's Business Association

Pondeli Hajioannou is the President of Bensalem's Business Association and owner of Philadelphia Private Gym.

Pondeli Hajioannou is not only the President of Bensalem's Business Association, but the owner of local business Philadelphia Private Gym. He first started the association in 2009 and it has expanded to include members such as Parx Casino and Holy Family University. Bensalem Patch had the opportunity to chat with Hajioannou to talk about the association and why it began. Why did you start the association? Who's here to help the businesses? There were 33 organizations in Bensalem. You name it. We had it. But not a business association. A week wouldn't go by where a business wouldn't close. Nobody cared about the next guy. I won't let anyone take advantage of anyone. I want to empower people. We now have a voice in our community.   What's a …

Kelly's Kitchen Replaces Pookie's

The new owner of the restaurant formerly known as Pookie's on Bristol road changed the name to Kelly's Kitchen.

Kelly's Kitchen is the new name of the Bristol restaurant formerly known as Pookie's. The owner, Bud Jones, had originally planned on keeping the name, but told Patch he decided to change the restaurant's name after receiving some feedback from customers. "I was going to try to do that, but we found out bad vibration associations with the name," Jones said. "I hate to throw that out there." Jones said that customers told him they thought the restaurant had been reopened by the previous owner, Kent Boyer, and that was negatively affecting business. The restaurant, at 2363 Bristol Road, closed in November 2012 because "it just didn't do enough business," Boyer said.  After brainstorming names, Jones settled on Kelly's Kitchen. The restaurant…

Private Gym Opens Doors for Open House

Philadelphia Private Gym will have an open house on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The doors to Philadelphia Private Gym will be open during an open house on Saturday, Feb. 9. From 12 to 3 p.m., friends and family of clients, as well as people curious about what a private gym has to offer are welcome to learn more about the gym, the trainers and the perks of a private gym, while mingling and enjoying refreshments. "Everything here is by appointment, so someone who trains in the morning never runs into a person who trains at night," owner Pondeli Hajioannou said. "Clients can bring friends and family and mingle. It's a social event, but also to come in and see what a private gym does." A few differences of the private gym is that there's no membership fee, no sales people trying to get you to purchase an upgrade and no …

Township Council President Joe Knowles is set to speak tomorrow at the Bensalem Business Association’s (BBA) November meeting. “This is a great opportunity for business owners in Bensalem to hear first hand from one of our council members,” said BBA President Pondeli Hajioannou. “This and the next two meetings should be our highest attended meetings of the year.” The meeting will be held at Pondeli’s place of business, the Philadelphia Private Gym, 2636 Bristol Pike. Local business owners are invited to attend this meeting and consider BBA membership for only $120 annually “and for that the potential for networking is amazing,” Pondeli said. What's next?
