Kelly's Kitchen Replaces Pookie's

The new owner of the restaurant formerly known as Pookie's on Bristol road changed the name to Kelly's Kitchen.

Kelly's Kitchen is the new name of the Bristol restaurant formerly known as Pookie's. The owner, Bud Jones, had originally planned on keeping the name, but told Patch he decided to change the restaurant's name after receiving some feedback from customers. "I was going to try to do that, but we found out bad vibration associations with the name," Jones said. "I hate to throw that out there." Jones said that customers told him they thought the restaurant had been reopened by the previous owner, Kent Boyer, and that was negatively affecting business. The restaurant, at 2363 Bristol Road, closed in November 2012 because "it just didn't do enough business," Boyer said.  After brainstorming names, Jones settled on Kelly's Kitchen. The restaurant…

Saladworks on Street Road is Top-Performing Store

One of Bensalem's Saladworks locations was a high performing store in 2012.

Saladworks had major growth accomplishments in 2012, and one of its Bensalem locations was a top-performing store last year, according to a company spokesperson. "We had an amazing year, bringing a 15 percent revenue growth, [and] a 7 percent year-over-year sales increase," said Mitch Donaberger, a public relations manager for Saladworks. Though Donaberger said he cannot release specific year-end numbers for franchise locations, but that one Bensalem store is quite successful. "Our Street Road location in Bensalem is one of our top-performing stores (in our whole system, actually) and grew on track with the company this year," Donaberger said. Gino's Closes Due to 'Conflicting Interest'

The Bensalem location of Gino's Burgers and Chicken closed for business.

Bensalem lost another restaurant with the closure of Gino's Burgers and Chicken. Though there is no way of knowing that the restaurant is closed from the sign at the building's entrance that is still advertising a new menu and cheaper prices, one can take the vacant parking lot as a sign. If you get close enough to peer inside a window, you can see that the building, including pictures on the walls, have been cleared out. Calls to Gino's corporate office in King of Prussia were not returned as of publication time, but a message on the restaurant's Facebook page confirmed that it is indeed closed for business.
