5 Teens Cited with Tobacco Use in School

Over the past week, at least five teenagers under the legal age have been caught with tobacco on school grounds, police said.

Over the past week, at least five teenagers have been cited with tobacco use on school grounds, according to Bensalem Township police reports.  In four separate police blotters, five students under the ago of 18 have been caught with tobacco on Bensalem Township High School property, which is a violation of school rules. The students will all be issued citations. Citations were made at the following date and time, according to Bensalem police: "The use or possession of any tobacco product is not permitted at any time in the school building, on school property, or at a school sponsored activity," according to information in the student and parent handbook for Bensalem Township High School.  Students with a first violation are required to …

Firefighter, 2 Others Charged With Arson in Croydon Mansion Fire

Bensalem Township Police formally charged three men—including a volunteer firefighter—with arson and related offenses for February fire.

Three men—including a volunteer firefighter—were charged with arson and related offenses in connection to an arson that took place at the Croydon Mansion in February, according to Bensalem police. On Tuesday, April 9, Bensalem Police formally charged the three Levittown men, who had been in police custody since the end of February after being arrested for an alleged armed robbery in Bristol Township, according to Sgt. Andrew Aninsman of the Bensalem Township Police Department. Bensalem Woman Arrested in Child Abuse Case

Andrea Amaya was charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault, according to police.

Bensalem Township Police arrested a woman at her home on Friday morning, after a lengthy child abuse investigation, police said. Andrea Amaya, 24, of 3131 Knights Rd. was arrested at 9:24 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, and was charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault, according to a release from the Bensalem Police Department. She had been the target of a lengthy investigation by the police department's Special Victims Unit, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office and Bucks County Children and Youth. The focus of the child abuse investigation was the 3-year-old daughter of Amaya, who was hospitalized at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia on Nov. 3. Bensalem Township Police released recent blotter information.

Bensalem Township Police released recent crime information on Wednesday, July 27, which included arrests for theft, outstanding warrants and disorderly conduct. Marybeth Henderson Athey, 28, of the 1800 block of West Garden Road in Vineland, N.J. was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Bensalem. She also had an outstanding warrant out of Philadelphia. Athey was arrested on the 2400 block of Byberry Road and was sent to Bucks County Prison. A 22-year-old female from Trevose was arrested on an outstanding Pa. state warrant. Brittany Jones was turned over to the state police after being arrested on the 2400 block of Byberry Road.
