The sons of Jean Carson, the woman who drowned after falling into Neshaminy Creek while attending a party on Dec. 19, are seeking compensation from the party's host. Robert and David Carson filed a wrongful death civil suit in Bucks County about a week ago that seeks to collect more than $50,000 from party host Edward Brodecki, according to a story on PhillyBurbs.com. The suit says the between the bench and the edge of a drop off to the creek is unguarded by any barrier or railing “and otherwise affords no protection by way of separation from the waterway,” the story says. A 65-year-old man was placed under arrest in the Croydon section of Bristol Township.
A 65-year-old New York City man was charged with terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another and harassment after an incident at the Croydon Laundromat on Route 13 (Bristol Pike). Bristol Township police responded to the laundromat on Monday, Feb. 11 after they received a harassment call at 10:14 p.m, court records show. The man arrived and confronted an employee who owes him money and told her, "If I don't get my money, I am going to kill you and make you lose your job," according to an affidavit. The victim told investigators her friend witnessed the threats. Authorities cited the same man two days prior for harassment related on an incident which happened on Saturday, Feb. 2. An emergency medical helicopter took an injured teen from Bucks County Technical High School to the hospital on Thursday.
A medical helicopter operated by the University of Pennsylvania landed at Bucks County Technical High School on Thursday morning to rush an injured teen to the hospital. The 14-year-old boy suffers from "brittle bone disease" and fractured his femur during school. Emergency medical crews deemed it in the victim's best interest to transport him via helicopter, Principal Mary Kelly said. Local fire crews established a landing zone at the high school in Bristol Township so the distinctive blue and white helicopter was able to land and transport the 14-year-old to a city hospital just before 10 a.m., emergency officials said. An armed robbery at the Dollar General on Route 13 and police activity around Cleveland Street made for an interesting evening in Bristol Borough on Thursday. According to emergency radio reports and a county dispatch official, police were summoned to the Dollar General along Route 13 (Bristol Pike) at around 5 p.m. for reports of an armed robbery. An alert from the Breaking News Network, a service that monitors police radio transmissions, reported the robbery suspect was a "stocky white male" armed with a handgun. The suspect made away with $100 in cash, PhillyBurbs.com reported. Investigators in Philadelphia will run DNA samples taken from alleged murderer and Levittown resident Jason Smith through a national crime database, police said. NBC10 reports that police are comparing Smith’s DNA to that of the Fairmount Park Rapist and samples gathered after several sexual assaults near Pennypack Park in Northeast Philadelphia. City police say the suspect in the Fairmount Park is connected to at least three violent sexual assault cases. All the crimes happened between 2003 and 2007. Prior to his arrest on charges of murder last week, Levittown pest exterminator Jason Smith had a relatively clean criminal record. However, several people close to the 36-year-old father said he had a somewhat troubled past. A former friend of Smith’s who spoke on the condition of anonymity told Patch that the Crabtree section resident could have a temper, but murder was not something he felt his old friend was capable of. New jobs are expected to be added to Bristol Township when Estee Lauder expands their facility.
A 53,865-square-foot addition onto a building at the Keystone Industrial Park is expected to bring at least 40 new jobs to Bristol Township, officials said. Township council last week approved plans for Estee Lauder to add on to their current facility. All the council members approved, except for Amber Longhitano. The councilwoman was away attending to personal matters, Council President Bob Lewis said. The company was willing to pay fees in lieu of trees and sidewalks, but Councilman Rick Pluta said the fees should be waived, as Estee Lauder is merely building an addition. Thursday, 11:13 a.m.: During a press conference, Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark, Commanding Officer of Homicide Unit, stated that Jason Smith has been charged with the murder of pediatrician Melissa Ketunuti in addition to an arson and related charges. Detectives used "every bit" of surveillance footage in the area of the victim's home to develop Smith as a suspect. At 10 p.m. Wednesday night, Philadelphia Police, U.S. Marshals and Bristol Police went to Smith's house in Bristol Township and transported him back to the Philadelphia Police homicide unit for questioning.
