Police are testing Smith's DNA in a national database. Also, Smith's former sister-in-law speaks about the Levittown man and more details on his arrest record come out.
Investigators in Philadelphia will run DNA samples taken from alleged murderer and Levittown resident Jason Smith through a national crime database, police said. NBC10 reports that police are comparing Smith’s DNA to that of the Fairmount Park Rapist and samples gathered after several sexual assaults near Pennypack Park in Northeast Philadelphia. City police say the suspect in the Fairmount Park is connected to at least three violent sexual assault cases. All the crimes happened between 2003 and 2007. One of the cases includes the 2003 murder 30-year-old Rebecca Park, a medical student, whose death was caused by strangulation. The suspect in the murder and rapes was described to Mt. Airy Patch in 2011 as a Hispanic male with scars on his …

Several who knew Crabtree resident Jason Smith, who is accused of murdering a Philadelphia doctor, say he had temper issues in his past.
Prior to his arrest on charges of murder last week, Levittown pest exterminator Jason Smith had a relatively clean criminal record. However, several people close to the 36-year-old father said he had a somewhat troubled past. A former friend of Smith’s who spoke on the condition of anonymity told Patch that the Crabtree section resident could have a temper, but murder was not something he felt his old friend was capable of. Smith's fiance, who shared the two-story Crabtree section house with him, her young daughter and other family members, told 6abc the whole family is upset and knew nothing about the her partner of six year's alleged crime until authorities took him away and shot the family dog Wednesday night. On the WebSlueths.com …

New jobs are expected to be added to Bristol Township when Estee Lauder expands their facility.
A 53,865-square-foot addition onto a building at the Keystone Industrial Park is expected to bring at least 40 new jobs to Bristol Township, officials said. Township council last week approved plans for Estee Lauder to add on to their current facility. All the council members approved, except for Amber Longhitano. The councilwoman was away attending to personal matters, Council President Bob Lewis said. The company was willing to pay fees in lieu of trees and sidewalks, but Councilman Rick Pluta said the fees should be waived, as Estee Lauder is merely building an addition. The rest of present council agreed and waived the fees. Councilman Craig Bowen asked that the addition be built using tradespeople from the township. One seat over, …

A former Bristol Township woman will be going to trial on charges she tried to kill her ex-husband and mother-in-law
It sounded like a scene from a horror movie as Stanislav Kushnirov recalled Wednesday in district court how his 58-year-old ex-wife, Barbara Kushnirov, used a kitchen knife to try to stab through the door and into the Bristol Township bedroom where the man and his mother had taken shelter. The man testified at Barbara's preliminary hearing that he believed his ex-wife was trying to kill his elderly mother on the evening of Nov. 17, 2012. He also told the court that his ex-wife called his mother an “evil woman” and threatened to cut off his penis. “She said she would cut off my penis,” he said. He added that she told him she would wait until he was asleep before castrating him. During the height of the 45 minute ordeal, Stanislav said …

A fire that destroyed two boats in the Croydon section of Bristol Township is being investigated as suspicious, officials say.
Authorities plan to resume their investigation into what caused two boats to catch fire at a Croydon marina late Sunday night. Crews from the Croydon, Union and Cornwalls fire companies were dispatched to the Snug Harbor Marina on the Neshaminy Creek for a report of flames at around 11:15 p.m., Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said. Officials found the two dry-docked boats ablaze. Special firefighting foam was used to extinguish the fire which was exacerbated by the vessels' fuel, Dippolito said. The fire marshal said the cause of the fire is suspicious, but an investigation can not be completed until foam used to fight the fire dissipates.
