‘Soul Be It’ Gets Funky in Bensalem

Plays soul music to the local crowd.

Soul Be It, a R & B, soul and funk band from the New York area, played to a nice crowd Wednesday evening at the TD Bank Amphitheater. Singer Dennis Girmaldi said the band loved playing the local venue. He particularly liked the crowd. “It’s a nutty group, it’s a crazy group,” he said. “They’re into the music, some of them are up there dancing and singing…We love it.” When asked to describe the band’s sound, Girmaldi said three words: “power, energy and soul.” Another singer Kelly Carpenter said the 12-piece band, which features five horns really has a good time on stage. “It’s just a bunch of fun,” she said. Billy Joel Cover Band Entertains Bensalem

Big Shot rocked the TD Bank Amphitheater.

This week’s concert at TD Bank Amphitheater featured Big Shot, a Billy Joel tribute band. The band’s been together for about a decade and it’s lead by Mike DelGuidice, who plays keyboards and sings just like the real Piano Man. The band was running a little late for the concert due to an accident on I-95, but that didn’t stop them from giving the crowd a great show. DelGuidice banged out Joel hits including New York State of Mind, The Entertainer and Big Man on Mulberry Street. This was the Amphitheater’s second to last show of the season. Next week a Credence Clearwater Revival cover band will close the season. The next event after that will be Bensalem’s all-day Fall Festival on Oct. 1 featuring an evening concert and fireworks.

I wish I knew ahead of time, and I'm surprised the bandleader didn't mention it, that the band includes Billy Joel's very own sax player, Marc Rivera. He's an awesome player.   more ›

According to Hotel California's website, the band is comprised of five talented musicians. They got together over 20 years ago to fill the void created when the Eagles broke up.

Hotel California is an excellent band--by far the best Eagles Tribute of the serval that are out there. It's the last & only act I had in the booking pipeline for this season prior to my unexpected termination as Venue Manager mid-Dec. Pleased to see a good-size audience on hand during the best night of the week weather-wise, and appears they were rewarded with a first-rate performance. I …   more ›
