Local Bank Robber Gets 10-20

Albert Jannett robbed three Bucks County banks.

A Bensalem man who robbed three Bucks County banks in February, including a TD Bank in Bensalem, received a sentence of between 10 and 20 years. According to a PhillyBurbs story, Albert M. Jannett, 25, of the 3300 block of Neshaminy Boulevard, handed tellers in the three banks notes stating that he had a gun. His robberies totaled over $20,000. He was sentenced on Monday in Doylestown court. Police apprehended Jannett in CVS parking lot at 3811 Neshaminy Blvd. based on a witness’ description of him and his 2010 Hyundai. 10-20 years for stealing $20,000. He used a paper note as a weapon. Wow. I read a few weeks ago about a bunch of folks who stole $9 million in a Medicare fraud and got UP TO 26 months. Much better to rip off the government than a grocery store, I guess.   more ›

Popeye’s Manager Sentenced for Groping Teen Employees

He was sentenced to 10-24 years.

Eduardo Tomasek, the former Popeye’s restaurant shift manager who admitted groping several female teen employees, will spend at least 10 years in state prison. According to a CBS story, Tomasek, 51, was sentenced in Doylestown Thursday to 10-24 years under a plea agreement. He will also be a registered sex offender under Megan’s Law for the rest of his life. On May 23 last year, Bensalem Police Special Victims Unit arrested Tomasek for indecent assault, unlawful contact with minors, corruption the morals of minors and related offenses. After a two-month investigation, Tomasek, a shift manager at Popeye’s Restaurant 2160 Street Road, was accused of fondling and inappropriately touching seven 15-16 year-old female employees and supplied some…

Home Invasion Suspect Held on Charges

Philadelphia man allegedly threatened 83-year-old woman at knifepoint.

  District Judge Joseph Falcone held Quincy Cannon on multiple charges including robbery, kidnapping, burglary, false imprisonment and simple assault related to a home invasion of an 83-year-old Bensalem woman, according to PhillyBurbs.com. On Oct. 29 at 2:15 a.m., Bensalem police were called to a home on Crafton Drive in Nottingham where an elderly woman reported she was sleeping in her bed when a male forced his way into her home, held a knife to the victim and demanded money or he will kill her, police reported at the time. Police said Cannon tied up the woman and stole her debit card. He then went to a near by bank withdrew money from the victim’s account. Parx Parking Lot Dad Gets Probation

Donald Waige must serve 18 months on probation and take parenting classes.

According to a report on PhillyBurbs.com, Donald Waige, the 60-year-old Philadelphia man who left his 15-month-old son in his parked car last June while he played penny slots in Parx Casino for about an hour, pleaded guilty Thursday to endangering the welfare of a child. Waige was also mandated by the court to take parenting classes, the report stated. Last month the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board placed Waige on its involuntary Exclusion List, which forbids him from entering state casinos. Jury: Ex-Policeman Guilty of Sex Crime

Michael Marren will be a registered sex offender under Megan's Law.

Michael Marren, a former Bensalem Township police sergeant, faces a stiff prison sentence and a lifetime as a registered sex offender, for the March assault of a 23-year-old woman, according to a Bucks County Courier Times report. The jury found Marren guilty of aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault, according to the Courier Times. He was found not guilty of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and sexual assault. Ironically, Marren is the former head of the department's Special Victim's Unit, which handles crimes involving sexual assault. He also worked part time at the Bensalem Rescue Squad, which is how he knew the victim and also where the incident took place, according to the Courier Times. The Courier Times story …
