Friends of Billy Greene have raised $46,000 thus far for Billy Greene, the man who sustained third degree burns on 80 percent of his body.
The group that initially aimed to raise $10,000 for a burn victim has raised nearly $50,000. On March 10 Friends of Billy Greene held a benefit for the man who sustained 3rd degree burns on 80 percent of his body after he became engulfed in flames after an electrical fire caused an explosion at a Bensalem carpet store in January. The benefit was held at Steamfitters' Local Union 420 hall in Philadelphia, where Greene is a member. Since the group has far exceeded the donation amount it anticipated to raise, it has upped the ante to see if $50,000 is attainable. "We haven't closed the donation account yet so donations can still be made at Friensofbillygreene.com or at any Wells-Fargo bank," Maddi Arnott said. Arnott, her husband Brad, …

An emergency medical helicopter took an injured teen from Bucks County Technical High School to the hospital on Thursday.
A medical helicopter operated by the University of Pennsylvania landed at Bucks County Technical High School on Thursday morning to rush an injured teen to the hospital. The 14-year-old boy suffers from "brittle bone disease" and fractured his femur during school. Emergency medical crews deemed it in the victim's best interest to transport him via helicopter, Principal Mary Kelly said. Local fire crews established a landing zone at the high school in Bristol Township so the distinctive blue and white helicopter was able to land and transport the 14-year-old to a city hospital just before 10 a.m., emergency officials said. Kelly said the teen was just walking when his femur "snapped." The genetic disease is characterized by fragile bones …

A fire that destroyed two boats in the Croydon section of Bristol Township is being investigated as suspicious, officials say.
Authorities plan to resume their investigation into what caused two boats to catch fire at a Croydon marina late Sunday night. Crews from the Croydon, Union and Cornwalls fire companies were dispatched to the Snug Harbor Marina on the Neshaminy Creek for a report of flames at around 11:15 p.m., Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said. Officials found the two dry-docked boats ablaze. Special firefighting foam was used to extinguish the fire which was exacerbated by the vessels' fuel, Dippolito said. The fire marshal said the cause of the fire is suspicious, but an investigation can not be completed until foam used to fight the fire dissipates.
