Fire Damages Trevose Newspaper Building

Firefighters responded to a blaze at a building on Metropolitan Drive that housed the production department of Broad Street Media, publisher of the Northeast Times, Star and Wire newspapers.

  On Sunday night, the Trevose, Nottingham, Feasterville and Lower Southampton fire companies responded to a blaze at newspaper building in Trevose. Bensalem Battalion Chief Robert Sponheimer told Patch that firefighters were dispatched to 2512 Metropolitan Drive at 10:30 p.m. for a report of a building fire. He said motorists on the nearby Pennsylvania Turnpike reported the fire. “Upon arrival crews discovered a fire on the exterior of the building that extended into the roof and rear section of the building,” he explained. “The incident was placed under control at 10:52 pm and no injuries were reported.” An article on bsmphilly.com called the fire “suspicious.” It reported that the building was home to the production department of Broad …

Bensalem Police Reports

Four Injured in Retirement Community Fire

Fire at Wood River Village injures four and displaces eight.

  Today at 9:45 a.m. Bensalem fire and police responded to an apartment fire at Wood River Village retirement community on Bensalem Boulevard. According to police, the fire was located in apartment F-111. Three employees and the 79-year-old resident were taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation and burns. Battalion Chief Rob Sponheimer reports the fire appears to have started in the heating unit and spread into the walls. Fire is still under investigation. Police said four apartments were evacuated and eight residents are being placed in other apartments within the complex.   Responding to the scene were Bensalem Fire Rescue, Newport and Penndel Fire Companies.

Two Die in Storm-Related Fatal Fire

The cause of the fatal fire on Marion Avenue in Bensalem has been ruled electrical and appears to be storm related.

  Bensalem police are confirming the death of two individuals in a house fire in the 2900 block of Marion Avenue in Bensalem. According to police, passerby reported the fire around 3 a.m. Eddington Fire Company, who had a crew stationed overnight, was able to respond within minutes along with other rescue personnel. Firefighters entered the home and located two people lying on the floor. The victims were taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital, but later died.  It appears that the residents may have attempted to extinguish the fire themselves with a garden hose. Valley of Fear Rises from the Ashes for Grand Opening

After a devastating fire in August, Feasterville's Valley of Fear is ready to make people scream with fright this Halloween season.

Though a fire at the Valley of Fear seemed like a devastation back in August, causing $100,000 in damage and injuring six local fire fighters, the popular haunted attraction is ready to scare and frighten just in time for the Halloween season. In fact, the Valley of Fear is celebrating its grand opening tonight, Oct. 4. "We’re feeling great. We’re very positive about the season," Northampton resident and Valley of Fear operator Tom Yaegel told Patch. Haunted Attraction in Feasterville Burns to Ground

A fire destroys the popular Valley of Fear Wednesday afternoon.

  It took only minutes for flames to destroy a wooden structure that housed two haunted attractions at the Valley of Fear in the Feasterville section of Lower Southampton near the Bensalem border Wednesday afternoon. Robert Walter, public information officer with the Feasterville Fire Company, reported one firefighter was taken to the hospital for a burn to their hand. A second was transported by ambulance for a respiratory issue. Several responders were treated at the scene for heat related issues. Air temperatures at the scene were estimated to be over 100 degrees, an official told Patch. Firefighters Respond to Townhouse Blaze

One injury reported.

  Firefighters responded to a working fire near Donallen and Mayflower drives just after 3:30 p.m. yesterday. Initial reports indicated that smoke was coming from the second floor when they arrived. The fire damaged a townhouse in the 6600 block of Mayflower Drive, according to PhillyBurbs. One person was reported injured. 5 Firefighters Injured In Middletown Township Blaze

Dozens of residents were displaced after lightning sparked a four-alarm fire at the Windsor at Harper's Crossing apartment complex on Sunday night.

Fire officials said three lightning bolts sparked a four-alarm blaze that injured several people, including five firefighters, at a Middletown Township apartment complex Sunday night. The fire was reported at Windsor at Harper’s Crossing apartments shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday. Crews were called to 100 Harper’s Crossing after reports of heavy fire conditions. While some residents were able to safely evacuate, others were trapped on upper floors and later rescued by fire crews. As of 11 p.m. Sunday, nearly 125 firefighters battled the blaze from the exterior of the building. Firefighters Battle Major Fire at Metal Yard

The two-alarm fire in the Morrisville section of Falls Township drew a response from across Bucks County.

Firefighters from all parts of Bucks County and several New Jersey communities battled a large blaze at SIMS Metal Management in the Morrisville section of Falls Township Tuesday, working well into the evening. One employee of the metal recycling yard on Steel Road suffered minor smoke inhalation injuries but refused to be taken to the hospital, Falls Township Fire Co. Chief Mike McClellan said. Thick black smoke from the blaze could be seen from miles around and was blown by a light wind toward Trenton, N.J. Townhome Fire Quickly Contained

The fire occurred on Prescott Court in Bensalem Saturday evening.

A blaze in the attic of a townhome on Prescott Court in Bensalem was quickly contained by firefighters Saturday shortly after 6 p.m. No injuries were reported. However, the fire caused some damage to the attic of 5755 Prescott Court and destroyed clothes that were stored in the space, Newport Fire Company Battalion Chief Andrew Witmer said. Firefighters were at the scene within four minutes and quickly supressed the flames, Witmer told Patch. The home remained habitable as of Saturday evening, the battalion chief said. NJ Brush Fire Causes Smoky Smell in Bucks

According to reports, a fire at one of the ranges at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst caused a smoky smell from Bordentown to Wrightstown.

What was that smell? On Sunday evening, residents from throughout Central New Jersey and Bucks County were likely wondering the cause of a smokey smell that blanketed the area. According to reports, a fire at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst caused a smokey smell from Bordentown to Central Bucks County. In an article posted this morning, The Trentonian reported a smokey smell was detectable throughout Central New Jersey and Bucks County. A light brown haze hovered above the Delaware River along interstate 295 and surrounding towns, according to the Trentonian.
