Beware Icy Morning Roads

National Weather Service calls for freezing rain.

  At 12:30 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a freezing rain advisory for Bucks and Montgomery counties. The advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. The advisory calls for a tenth of an inch of drizzle that could freeze and create a thin glaze of ice on untreated surfaces. This may result in areas of hazardous travel along with slippery sidewalks. Bridges and overpasses tend to freeze up first, according to the Weather Service. Be prepared for slippery roads, slow down and use caution while driving. Here’s the local forecast: Overnight: Areas of drizzle. Cloudy, with a low around 30. East wind around 5 mph. Weather Service Calls for Weekend Snow

Winter weather advisory in effect.

  The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for southeast Pennsylvania with snow and a wintry mix expected tonight and Saturday. The advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. The precipitation is expected to fall predominantly in the form of snow with several inches of accumulation by the time the snow ends. Snow is expected to change to sleet and freezing rain before it changes to all rain Saturday afternoon. Snow accumulation of 2 to 5 inches along with up to a tenth of an inch of ice. Areas of slippery driving and walking especially on untreated roadways and sidewalks. Motorists need to use caution when driving on bridges and overpasses where icy spots can easily develop.
