Amtrak Train Kills Pedestrian in Bristol

A southbound Amtrak train struck and killed a man near the Bristol station on Wednesday.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Northeast Regional Amtrak train heading south on Wednesday, according to an Amtrak official. The accident occurred around 6 p.m., nine miles West of Trenton close to the Bristol station, according to Craig Schulz, an Amtrak Media Relations spokesman. The Bucks County Coroner identified the man killed as David Smith, 56, of Morrisville, according to PhillyBurbs reports. His death was ruled a suicide. "It was a fatal," Schulz told Patch, "but no injuries to passengers or crew were reported." The No. 129 train that travels between New York and Washington, D.C. had 412 passengers on board at the time of the accident. Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Amtrak Train in Croydon

A pedestrian who was trespassing was struck and killed by an Amtrak in Croydon Tuesday night, Amtrak officials said.

A pedestrian who was trespassing on train tracks near Croydon was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Tuesday night, an Amtrak official confirmed. "Train 2175, an Acela Express, struck a trespasser," said Craig Schulz, an Amtrak Media Relations spokesperson. "It was a fatality" Schulz said the accident happened around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, in the Croydon area of Bucks County. "But there were no injuries to crew or passengers on board," Schulz said.  Train 2175 was terminated there, Schulz said, and the passengers moved on to other trains to continue to their destinations. Driver Surrenders After Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident

The driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident turned himself in to authorities, Bensalem Police say.

The man responsible for a Tuesday morning hit-and-run accident that killed at 71-year-old pedestrian turned himself in to authorities, police said. Mario Rodriguez-Morales, 40, of the 2900 block of Knights Road, turned himself in to Bensalem Police after leaving the scene of a hit and run at Knights Road just north of Dunksferry Road that killed a pedestrian, according to police. Bensalem Police reported to the scene at 6:09 a.m. Police identified the victim as Madanago Bakthavatchalu, a 71-year-old resident of the 2500 block of Knight Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Bensalem Police Department. Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Bristol Borough

A pedestrian was struck in Bristol near the intersection of Route 13 and 4th Avenue.

Updated, Friday, Jan. 4, 10:16 a.m.: Bristol Borough Police released a press release that the victim was pronounced dead on the scene Thursday night. The driver of the striking vehicle did stop and called police. At this time, the accident is still under investigation and anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Sgt. Pete Fraight at the Bristol Borough Police Department at 215-788-7811.  The victim's information is not being released at this time. Woman Struck, Killed Along Route 13

A Bristol Township resident died from injuries sustained when she was hit by a car. Bristol Borough police are investigating the accident.

A Bristol Township woman has passed away from injuries sustained when she was struck by a car in Bristol Borough. Christina “Tina” Szymanek, 60, of Bath Road, was walking along the southbound shoulder of Route 13 when she was struck by a car driven by a Croydon resident at 5:28 p.m. on Friday, according to borough police. The victim was taken by ambulance to Aria Health's Torresdale hospital. She died several hours later, police reported on Tuesday. The driver is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation and the District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the incident. Authorities have not released further details on the crash.
