According to Bensalem Police, a Pentecostal Church Deacon has been arrested and charged with raping a 13-year-old girl.
A church Deacon has been charged with rape and related charges, according to the Bensalem Police Special Victims Unit. On Wednesday, Jan. 9, the Special Victims Unit arrested 34-year-old Humberto Cervantes of the 100 block of Seltzer Avenue in Coastesville. An investigation was first started in December 2012, according to police, when the victim disclosed that Cervantes had raped her at a Bensalem motel in 2011, when she was 13 years old. At that time, Cervantes was a Deacon at a Pentecostal Church in Trenton, NJ. A Bensalem man admitted to sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl in court on Wednesday, according to reports. Ramon Robles-Gonzales, 45, pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and child endangerment before Buck County Judge Rea Boylan, according to an article on PhillyBurbs.com. Robles-Gonzalez was arrested in September 2012 for incidents that occurred between Sept. 3 and Sept. 8, according to another article. The man wanted in connection with a late November sexual assault in Falls Township is now suspected of groping a girl at a popular store in Middletown.
Police in two townships are keeping their eyes open for a "subject of interest" wanted in connection with two incidents where young girls were touched. Middletown authorities late Wednesday afternoon issued a message that the same suspect from the Nov. 27 incident at the Barnes & Noble in Falls is reported to have touched a girl at the Target Tuesday evening in the Langhorne section of the township. Police say the suspect touched the young girl at the store on East Lincoln Highway at around 8:30 p.m. No further information was released. A convicted sex offender that used to live in Bensalem committed suicide in prison this week. According to PhillyBurbs.com, Marvin Landaverry, 53, formerly of Arrowhead Drive, was found hanging in his cell at the State Correctional Institution at Graterford in Montgomery County Tuesday morning. A Montgomerynews.com report said Graterford Superintendent Mike Wenerowicz reported the inmate’s death. He was pronounced dead by the institutional medical staff after attempting to revive him. A Philadelphia policeman has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl in a local motel. According to PhillyBurbs, Anthony Dattilo, 36, was released from custody Friday after posting $50,000 bail. Police said Dattilo was with a 21-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl at a motel on Lincoln Highway about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. He drove the two there from North Philadelphia, police said. Dattilo, of the Tacony section of Philadelphia, was charged with numerous offenses, including aggravated sexual assault, promoting prostitution, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors. Eduardo Tomasek, the former Popeye’s restaurant shift manager who admitted groping several female teen employees, will spend at least 10 years in state prison. According to a CBS story, Tomasek, 51, was sentenced in Doylestown Thursday to 10-24 years under a plea agreement. After a 36 hour manhunt, Bensalem and Philadelphia police along with local FBI agents arrested Dennis Pipkin, 28, of the 300 block of Loudon Street, Philadelphia for assault, kidnapping and sexual assault. The victim was his estranged wife. Police said the incident began on Sunday evening when the victim was assaulted by Pipkin and an unknown male as she was getting out of her vehicle to go to work. She was then forced into her vehicle, tied up and taken to motel in Bensalem where she was sexually assaulted. According to police, Pipkin threatened the victim with a stun gun and box cutter. Former Bensalem police officer Michael Marren was sentenced in Bucks County court for sexual assault. According to a story on PhillyBurbs.com, Marren, 42, will serve 1½ to three years in state prison for the aggravated indecent assault of a 23-year-old work associate in March 2010. The story stated Marren was found guilty in December of attacking the woman in the township rescue squad, where he was a paramedic and was a volunteer. The incident occurred after a night of drinking. While a member of the Bensalem police, Marren served as head of the department's Special Victim's Unit, which handles crimes involving sexual assault.
