State Police Report Teen Drivers to Parents
When teen drivers crash or get tickets, state police tell their parents.
“Operation Safe Teen” is a safety initiative instituted by the Pa. State Police at Troop M (Bucks, Lehigh and Northampton counties) to inform parents and guardians of traffic violations committed by 16-17-year-old drivers, which result in a traffic citation, written warning or vehicle crash that was handled by state police. According to a release, in June troopers throughout Troop M’s territory made 25 contacts with young teen drivers, resulting in 21 telephone calls and four in-person notifications to parents. Troopers issued seven traffic citations and one written warning associated with vehicle crashes as well as 24 citations and two warnings related to various moving/equipment violations.
