Santa To Kickoff Bucks County Treefest

There will be 25 trees decorated by local businesses.

  Santa Claus is set to arrive at the Bucks County Visitor Center in Bensalem on Tuesday, Nov. 20. But he won’t be riding in his sleigh. He’ll be riding on a fire engine. The big man will be kicking off this year’s Holiday TreeFest hosted by Visit Bucks County, the county’s official tourism agency. Twenty-five uniquely themed trees will be on display as the main gallery of the Visitor Center is transformed into a wintry wonderland. Each tree is decorated by a local business or organization. Sundays with Santa (Dec. 2, 9, 16), musical talent, and a special day dedicated to Pet Photos with Santa (Dec. 16) are a few of the highlights in the packed schedule of events. Bucks Tourism Agency Wins Social Media Award

Visit Bucks County was honored by Travel + Leisure magazine for its social media scavenger hunt. The agency will be featured in the magazine's July issue on newsstands Friday.

Visit Bucks County, the county’s official tourism promotion agency, is doing social media the right way, according to a prominent travel magazine. The agency was honored by Travel + Leisure in New York City in its first-ever Social Media in Travel + Tourism Awards (SMITTYS). Bucks Tourism Agency Announces Awards, Grants

Visit Bucks County celebrates National Tourism Day.

Visit Bucks County, the county’s official tourism promotion agency, celebrated National Tourism Day on May 8 by giving away awards and money. Tourism officials and business partners met at the Bucks County Visitor Center on Street Road near Parx Casino in Bensalem. The event was one of 75 similar ones nationwide celebrating the industry for Tourism Day. Visit Bucks Executive Director Jerry Lepping noted that “tourism in Bucks County supports 11,000 jobs and generates $814 million in the local economy.” In honor of National Tourism Day, Lepping spoke of the group’s participation in a national tourism effort and its specific marketing campaign in New York and North Jersey promoting tourism in Bucks County. Top 12 Reasons to Visit Bucks County

Making the list were various art exhibits, anniversaries and openings as well as the multi-million dollar Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racetrack, which was recently upgraded to a Grade I race. Tourism Agency Distributes $125,500 in Grants

Visit Bucks County names grant recipients.

Visit Bucks County, the official tourism promotion agency for Bucks County, is pleased to announce the Spring 2011 Tourism Grant program recipients. The Visit Bucks County Tourism Grant was instituted in 2008 by the VBC Board of Directors to assist in the development and enhancement of not-for-profit tourism product in Bucks County. It is supported from a portion earned from the Bucks County lodging tax. Recipients are as follows: After previous successful rounds that have contributed $798,000 in tourism funds, Visit Bucks County is accepting applications for the next round with a deadline of April1st.
