On Veterans Day, what better to focus on than a local veterans’ group. Bensalem Patch would like to present this photo gallery of the VFW Post 9198 Bauer-Hartman-Marszalek Post, located at 1158 Bristol Pike in Andalusia. The local post is a chapter of the national Veterans of Foreign Wars organization whose mission is to “foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military, and our communities. An estimated 20,000 Pennsylvania military veterans have not yet applied for a state-run bonus program recognizing their service in the Persian Gulf in 1990-91, the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs said. More than 9,800 Persian Gulf veterans have applied for the one-time cash bonus program since the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs began accepting applications three years ago. The bonus pays $75 per month for qualifying, active-duty service members, up to a $525 maximum. For personnel who died through illness or injury received in the line of duty, there is an additional $5,000 available to the surviving family. Service members who were declared prisoners of war may also be eligible for an additional $5,000. In each …

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation today announced that all driver license and photo centers, including the center at 4201 Neshaminy Blvd., Bensalem, will be closed Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. According to a release, customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.state.pa.us. Driver and vehicle online services are available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and include driver’s license and photo ID renewals; vehicle registration renewal; driver-history services; changes of address; driver license and vehicle registration restoration letters; and exam scheduling.
