Amtrak Train Halts After Striking Large Bird

Amtrak was delayed for nearly an hour on Saturday near the Cornwells Heights station after striking a large bird.

An Amtrak train was delayed for nearly an hour on Saturday after striking a large bird, an Amtrak official said. The 155 NE Regional Amtrak train came to a halt around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 just East of the Cornwells Heights Station, according to Craig Schulz, an Amtrak Media Relations spokesperson. Passengers, including a Patch employee who reached out to Bensalem Patch, speculated that a person had been struck by the train. An investigation proved otherwise. "At first, they knew they struck an object, but they didn't know what it was," Schulz said of the Amtrak crew. "After an investigation it was determined that it was a large bird." Troopers Investigate Theft from Vehicle at Park & Ride

Items stolen were values at nearly $400.

State police from the Trevose station are investigating a reported theft from a vehicle at SEPTA's Cornwells Heights park and ride facility. On Sept. 16 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke the front driver's side door window of a 2000 Honda Civic. Items taken included a Garmin GPS system valued at $220 and an XM satellite radio valued at $175. The victim was a 31-year-old Newtown man.
