I’ve been a ‘serial entrepreneur’ for more than 35 years, primarily in the Pacific Northwest but as far away as Paris.  Although my interests span a variety of industries, business has always focused on delivery of a message, material or service that advanced a client’s objectives.  A long time ago, I started a radio station and wrote for a morning TV news show.  I started a video production company that pioneered live remote broadcasts using state of the art handheld cameras long before they were small or cheap.  I taught training courses for police tactical response that grew into a business supplying west coast SWAT teams with weapons, explosives, and riot control products.  After a stint as a ‘regular cop’ in a very small town, and after a recurring back injury, I started a private detective agency.  Years later, I met a wonderful lady, moved to France and worked with her in her Paris detective agency.  While I loved living in France, the taxes for self-employed businesses were terribly high.  My wife wasn’t into socialism so we moved back to the Free World. I worked at Ground Zero following the attacks at the World Trade Center; then worked in contract security, first in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC.  Over a year ago, I finally outgrew the employee experience and began the hard work to start a company.  We provide real-time remote monitoring technologies that help businesses be more productive, reduce risks, and comply with regulations.  We’re making inroads in law enforcement, the shale gas industry and mass transportation.

A very long time ago, I attended college in Washington State, completing studies in radio, television, drama and environmental sciences.  It was the weird 60s and 70s, times that never will be again.

All of these life lessons are trivial and pale in comparison to the challenge ahead of me.  I’m learning how to be a father to my son and a Den Leader to a group of his friends - very active, inquisitive seven year olds.  My wife tends the garden, grows our food, teaches us to speak French, and reminds me every day, in a very nice way that I can do better.  Our faithful rescue pooch reminds me twice a day that it’s time to go to the bus stop.  It’s a busy life.

My local interests focus on my neighborhood, working with a group of very talented, dedicated neighbors who share the same concerns.  We advocate for good government, responsible development and protection of the surviving village character of Oaks and in the larger sense, for the surrounding community.

I bounce back and forth between being a registered Independent or Republican voter although I’ve cast ballots for qualified Democrats when there were no better choices.  I am genuinely concerned about the direction our country is taking toward becoming a politically correct nanny state.  I fear for the erosion of our Constitution, the bulwark of liberties that created this exceptional nation and I don’t feel like we should be apologizing to kings, despots or religious fanatics for the contributions of our soldiers, scientists, or scholars.
