Bensalem Teen Charged with 8th Sexual Assault

Joshua Ray Benson, 18, of Bensalem, is facing two felony counts of sexual assault, as well as other charges for allegedly sexually assaulting eight underage girls.

An 18-year-old Bensalem man who on Thursday was charged as an adult for allegedly sexually assaulting minor girls, was charged Friday in connection with what police said was an earlier sexual assault of an eighth victim.

Media coverage of Joshua Ray Benson's arraignment on Thursday resulted in a girl coming forward who police said was 17 years old at the time of Benson's alleged attack in 2011.

Benson, who turns 19 in two weeks, was a juvenile at the time too. Because he was a minor when the most recent incident was alleged to have happened, police filed charges in juvenile court, according to Bensalem Police Sgt. Andrew Aninsman.

Benson, who is being held in Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5 million bail, is alleged to have had "forcible" sex with seven other girls. Until Thursday, he had, for the last 90 days, been incarcerated in Edison Juvenile Detention Center related to alleged incidents involving five girls while he was underage.
Following his court appearance on Thursday and additional charges stemming from alleged crimes committed as an adult, Benson was remanded to the county jail.
